Pastor's Perspective

The month of July is quite an eventful month.  It is the month in which we celebrate our country's independence, summer vacation is in full swing, family reunions happen, and rest and relaxation are on our agenda more so than any other time of the year.
It is also a wonderful time for us to assess where we are at the halfway point of the year and where we'll look to go in the months ahead.  God has been faithful to us in every possible way in the first half of the year, and my expectation is that He will continue to do so as we lean toward the second half of the year, but there's a responsibility that falls upon us to continue to be faithful to Him in our time, talent, and tithe.
During this month, I will be sharing a preaching series entitled, "Saved To Serve," which will highlight our need for, and the benefit of dedicated Christian service for the kingdom of God, our church, our community, and our city.  God definitely smiles upon His committed followers, and our greatest aim is to please Him with the totality of our being.  The Apostle Paul declared so clearly in Romans 12:1, " I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. (NKJV)"
In light of that verse, we must understand that giving ourselves to the kingdom's cause is the absolute, reasonable thing to do when we consider the ultimate sacrifice that God made for us in sending Jesus on our behalf.  Vacations and times of relaxation are in full swing, but let's not relax on the God that has been so gracious and kind to us.
My prayer is that you will take full advantage of the opportunity to serve in such a wonderful place as the New Mount Calvary Missionary Baptist Church.  There's some ministry in our church that needs your attention, and more importantly, there's a soul out there that needs your service.  Grace and peace be unto you, and I look forward to seeing you at NMCBC, where we are "Building Relationships One Day At A Time."
